When Gretna Little Theatre held auditions for We Have Always Lived in the Castle, the spooky melodrama based on Shirley Jackson’s novel, three young actors read for the role of Mary Catherine. All three brought different qualities to the role, and director Janina Shoemaker triple cast the role, offering each the opportunity to play the part on a different night, but requiring all three to attend all rehearsals. Briana Pierce, Eden Ilconich, and Whitney Younger share a comic moment during a rehearsal break.
