Press Release - May 13, 2015

Gretna Little Theatre will present Abe Burrow’s comic romance, Cactus Flower, in our newly remodeled Black Box Theatre space at 101 Main Street May 15, 16, 17.

The original Broadway cast included Lauren Bacall and Barry Nelson with Brenda Vacarro in the major roles. A film version starred Walter Mathau, Ingrid Bergman, and Goldie Hawn.

Jim Nordquist plays Julian, the bumbling dentist, Maggie Greer is the irrepressible Toni, and Madalyn Mohamed the transformed Stephanie. Also in the cast are Matthew Pabo, David Hudson, Arlene Creasy, Waverly Hubbard, and Casi Price.  Set construction by Charles Converse, directed by Janina Shoemaker, choreography by Hal Shoemaker, with Ashley Rayburn as stage manager, Andrew Ilconich on lights, and Kay Adkins and Peggy Norcutt, properties managers.

A book signing with Leslie M. Szocik for her mystery, Cries in the Light, is also scheduled for Saturday (16th), from 2 to 4 at the Center for the Arts.

Any production in the black box requires advance ticket purchase or reservation, since the seating gallery is limited to 50 seats.  Patrons are asked to reserve tickets for a particular performance, available by phone, (434 656 3637) and to be picked up by 15 minutes before curtain. (7:30 Friday, Saturday, 2:30 Sunday)  Any tickets in Will Call will be available then First come, First served.  Tickets can also be purchased in advance at the Center during rehearsal hours. (7:00 to 9:00 p.m. through Thursday)  General Admission: $10, Seniors and Students: $8.
