Up Coming Events for October

October 13: Janina Shoemaker will present a seminar, Directing for Community Theatre, Thursday, October 13, at 7:00 p.m. at the Gretna Center for the Arts, 101 Main Street. Anyone with special interest in directing for Gretna Little Theatre is welcome.  Shoemaker is co-founder and Artistic Director of GLT for the past nine years.
Drawing on her training as a theatre practitioner, and her directing and producing experience for fifty-plus years, the seminar will cover the directing process from play selection to final curtain call.  Specific attention will be given to amateur theatre, workshop production, and shoestring budget design.
Shoemaker is currently teaching Theatre Production at Danville Community Theatre, and the class will present an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Pericles, Prince of Tyre, October 25, 10:00 a.m.  The public is invited to attend this production, free admission.
October 15: Old Timers 9am-3pm, come see us at the Center for the Arts at 101 Main St. in Gretna for a Silent Auction, bake sale, games for kids and an old time nickelodeon so you can rest your feet and watch some old cartoons.
October 15:  Coffee House Series 7:30pm, Brandon Dudley will be performing his stand up comedy titled: You Think You're Funny... snacks & drinks available for purchase but admission is FREE!
October 22 & 23:   BLITHE SPIRIT: That British comedy smash hit by Noel Coward, a reckless dinner party lets loose a perfectly delightful pair of spirited ladies, Madame Arcati and Elvira. The spunky deceased wife of a strait-laced gentleman moves in, aided by the clairvoyant Arcati, and the mansion is bedeviled. No one anticipates the damage to be done; it’s classic British humour. Directed by Janina Shoemaker.
